About FF

We have been brought together as a band to write music with a message of positive lyrical content, which clearly reflects our faith, love, and trust in Jesus Christ. The world has so many rock bands talking about the negative things in life, and we desire to be a band that can bring the energy and excitement of a good solid rock group, while bringing a message of hope, and that there is a better way in life through faith in Jesus. We write music in a few different styles from alternative rock, pop, to praise and worship.

The name "Finding Fortress" is based on Psalm 31:3 - "Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me." (NIV). Essentially "fortress" is a name of God, so Finding Fortress clearly means Finding God. The rest of this verse refers to being lead by God - which incidentally fits our debut album title: Lead.

The history of our band:

1. Winter 2007: Aaron feels called to start a Christian band. He knows Frank who feels the same calling and they begin hunting for bandmates. Aaron begins calling local La Crosse Wisconsin area churches and connects with worship leader Brendan Brooks who feels called to join.
2. Spring 2008: Jim joins the band as lead guitarist.
3. Rest of 2008: The band is writing music for their first album.
4. June 2009: The band decides to play their first concert, opening for a nationally touring band.
5. September 2009: The band hits the recording studio to begin recording "Lead".
6. March 2010: Lead is released.
7. March - December 2010 the band plays numerous live shows across Wisconsin. During this time 5 songs from "Lead" went top 5 at the IndieHeaven Fan Faves internet radio station.
8. November 2010 - Work on our second album begins.
9. December 2010 - Finding Fortress signs on to independant record label "Momentous Records".
10. January 2011 Finding Fortress releases "Lead" as a single to Christian radio across the midwest. CALL AND REQUEST "Lead" on your local Christian radio... if they don't have our tunes, LET US KNOW!

11. March, 2011: Writing completed for follow up album to be released in fall 2011.
12. April 3rd, 2011: Aaron Anderson and Francisco Reyes leave the band to pursue other callings.
13. Late April 2011: Jim and Brendan decide to continue with FF with Jim replacing Aaron's vocals and decide to find a new drummer to do the album.
14. May 17, 2011: Ben Lodahl joins Finding Fortress on drums to record our follow up album.
15. Currently: Working on the new album.
